As I was driving along the highway today, I noticed a couple of the billboards that normally blend in with landscape. Today, they sparked some thought. The first was for an upcoming psychic show at a local resort. In big bold letters it read “show added”. This just confirms to me that people are hungry for direction. People want to know what’s going to happen, they are unsure of their future. They are searching, if you will, for answers. My question is, didn’t the psychic know he was going to need two shows to begin with?
The second billboard that seemed to jump out this morning was for the lottery. Of course, we are so used to seeing $130 million or other astronomical figures such as these. But what does this say? The public participates by taking a chance or chances; the possibility of financial freedom for the rest of our lives is truly tempting. Again, I believe that people are searching for the missing component of their lives. Certainly, money will end all the sadness that I’ve been experiencing.
The third sign, a “green” sign alerting its passersby to the company’s commitment to the environment. I gather from this that people are truly interested in making the world a better place. This company is certainly portraying one of stewardship. Either that or jumping on the bandwagon in an effort to drum up more business.
