Avoiding the Spill

Through the years, we've become accustomed to live according to different standards and fall into regular patterns of daily living. But lately, life has changed in many different ways. We've certainly been through quite a bit over the past year! We have had to adapt to new ways of doing things or in many cases, stop doing things altogether.

A similar discourse happens in the Gospel of Luke when Jesus is asked why his disciples don't fast like those of John and the Pharisees. Jesus answered quite frankly when he said, why should they fast when the bridegroom is with them? They'll have plenty of time to fast later. He proceeds to explain that anyone knows not to put fresh wine in an old wineskin otherwise the skin will burst and the new wine and the skin will both be lost.

What's been fermenting in my soul?

That causes me to wonder...what new wine have I been fermenting over the past 16 months? Has there been any insight that is so precious to me that I would not want to lose? How can I protect it? What do I need to do to ensure that my new wine is housed in a new skin?
