Alone

A moment when I was alone standing knee-deep in pity, choking through the exhaust of a train en route for hope. So focused on the boards of the platform, missed the boarding call of the experienced engineer of life. Now standing alone seems like hope in the midst of despair for that which departed. Alone enough to welcome companions with any interest to travel. Alone, yet defensively engaged in what is to come.
